Project
Web Design and Development for the Wallace F. Bennett Building seismic retrofit project.
Description
USGS and
Big-D needed a website to keep the public,
various agencies and subcontractors informed
of progress during the demolition and subsequent
redesign and construction of Wallace F.
Bennett Building in Salt Lake City Daily.
Once we had developed a strategy and created
an initial site we had the task of daily
maintenance and updates to the site during
the projects 18 month term. In the end
we had a chronicle with over 600 pages,
2400 images and 60 movies embedded in the
site upon completion. The site was then
localized and used for informational kiosks
at the re-dedication of the building.
The site also featured 4 live web cameras (whose archive footage comprises the progress movies found on the site). These images were collected every minute and assembled into daily movies on the server. We also periodically assembled the daily movies into longer duration presentations.
Notable Site Features
Streaming Audio and Video
Live Web Cameras
This project was designed for dial up modem access (it was 2001), and as such graphic detail was minimal.
Current Status
